Mrs. Stella Edna Gillenwater, 99, Ft. Blackmore, VA passed away Saturday, December 27, 2008 at the Brian Center, Weber City, VA.
Mrs. Gillenwater was born in Scott County, VA on October 1, 1909, a daughter of the late William Patton and Catherine Lane Dean.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arlow C. Gillenwater in 1975, sisters, Hazel Dean Tate, Ona Elizabeth Dean, Monnie Marie Dean Gillenwater and Clydie Dean Benton and brothers, Charlie Benton Dean, William A. Dean, Henry I. Dean and Olaf Edward Dean.
Surviving is her sister, Velma Dean Henry and her caregivers, nephew, Danny Gillenwater and niece, Judy Crawford and husband, Jimmy, along with several other nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. — 1 p.m., Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be conducted at 1p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. David Gillenwater and the Rev. Paul Blessing officiating. The Lee Smith Singers will provide the music.
Burial will follow at the Gillenwater Family Cemetery in Ft. Blackmore, VA Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
