Ricky Gene Gillenwater, 61, Gate City, VA passed away, Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Wellmont Hospice, Bristol, TN.
Ricky was born at home in Scott County, VA on June 26, 1956 to the late Henry Watson (H.W.) and Helen Louise (Kendrick) Gillenwater.
He loved his puppies, Snowball and Pebo.
He is survived by his daughter, Melissa Moore and fiancé, Tim Johnson; brother, Chris Gillenwater and wife, Vickie; sisters, Sharon Moore and husband, Paul and Charlotte Gibson and husband, Ed; nieces, Wendie Logan, Courtney Gibson, Candice Gibson; nephews, Kevin Anderson, Logan Gillenwater, and Dakota Gillenwater; and special friends, Bill and Betty Compton.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Friday, June 22, 2018 at Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Dr. Gene Miller and Rev. Junior Kendrick officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, in the Midway community of Scott County, VA. Ray Carrico, Ed Gibson, Paul Moore, Eddie Music, Martin Gillenwater, and Ronnie Lawson will serve as pallbearers. Bill Frazier, Bill Compton, Jim Smith and Paul Carrico will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m., Saturday to go in procession to the graveside service.
