Roy J. Francisco – Kingsport, TN
Roy J. Francisco, 79, Kingsport, TN passed away, Friday, November 2, 2018 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after a brief illness.
Roy was born in Scott County, VA on May 8, 1939 and was the son of the late Ben J. and Sarah (Fuller) Francisco.
Roy was a veteran of the United States Army, a lifetime member of the Masons, and was retired from the Kingsport Press (Quebecor) after 40 plus years of service. He had a great love for animals. He especially had a soft spot for strays.
He was a loving father and papaw. After his retirement, he enjoyed spending his free time bargain shopping and going to flea markets.
In addition to his parents, his infant son preceded him in death.
Surviving are his daughters, Robin Gray and husband, Lee, Mount Carmel, TN and Rhonda Ragsdale and husband, Eddie, Kingsport, TN; grandsons, Camden and Braxton Gray, Mount Carmel, TN; the mother of his children, Jewett Baird, Kingsport, TN; along with several cousins, neighbors, and friends from work.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Monday, November 5, 2018 at the Gate City Funeral Home, and other times at the residence of Rhonda and Eddie Ragsdale. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Justin Quillin officiating.
Military graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA by members of the American Legion Hammond Post #3, Kingsport, TN and Post #265, Gate City, VA assisted by members of the Virginia Army National Guard Honors Team. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:15 p.m., Tuesday to go in procession to the graveside service.
