Frances Ann Fields – Gate City, VA
Frances Ann (Stallard) Fields, 79, Gate City, VA passed away, Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at her residence with her family by her side.
Frances was born in the Midway community of Scott County, VA on January 24, 1940, and was the daughter of the late Ivan and Maggie (Cleek) Stallard.
She was a graduate of Gate City High School in 1957, and of the Whitney School of business in 1958.
She retired from the Scott County Sheriff’s Department where she was a cook with twenty-five years of service.
She attended Midway Memorial Methodist Church and Bible Study at Nottingham United Methodist Church when her declining heath permitted.
Frances and her friends, Joy, Inas, and Renavea, who were like sisters, were up for any trip that took them on an adventure, seeing new places and experiencing new things. She had a love of life and for her family, and she will be greatly missed by those who were fortunate enough to know her and her infectious giggle.
Alan Jackson, you do not know what you were missing. She loved your music and most likely was your biggest fan!
In addition to her parents, her husband, Arthur Eugene Fields; son, Scotty Fields and an infant son, Perry Fields; brother, Chester Stallard; and grandparents, John and Lona Stallard preceded her in death.
Surviving is her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Cheryl Fields, Gate City, VA; grandchildren; Amanda and Jenna Fields, and Harley Davis; and special friends, Joy, Inas, Renavea, Wayne, and Claude.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Friday, October 18, 2019 at Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Brother Danny Kerns officiating.
Graveside Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 19, 2019 at the Stallard Family Cemetery in the Midway community of Scott County, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to say they were honored to have Andy, Jasmine, and Bobbi who are employed by Caris (Hospice) for caring so compassionately for Momma.
