Faye Smith Roller- February 18, 1946~August 21, 2025

Our dear mother, Faye Smith Roller, 79, of Duffield VA passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her the most offering support and love in abundance.

Faye lived a life marked by quiet strength, unconditional love, and extraordinary devotion to her faith and family. She was known by her family and friends as an amazing cook. She delighted in preparing delicious food to share with her family and friends. It was always a treat to sit at Faye’s table. She made sure no one ever left her home hungry.

Faye was born on February 18, 1946, in Scott County, VA, to the late App Carter and Mary Ellen Smith. She retired from Masco Tech of Duffield, VA after 20 plus years of service. Faye faithfully attended Roller’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church in Duffield.

In addition to her parents, Faye was preceded in death by her husband, and love of her life, James Harold Roller; brothers, Ike Smith, Craft Smith, Coy Smith, Will Smith, Pat Smith, and her twin brother, Ray Smith; sisters, Rosie Bledsoe, Joyce Akers, and Lucille Fannon.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Teresa Duncan and husband, Jay of Weber City, VA; son, Kent Roller and wife, Robin, Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, Krystal Lucas and husband, Dustin, Church Hill, TN, Kent Roller, Jr., Kingsport, TN, Stephanie Roller, Kingsport, TN, Rachel Cox, Kingsport, TN; great grandchildren, Jaxon and Chance Lucas, Church Hill, TN, Kai Cox, Kingsport, TN; beloved brother, Cloise Smith and wife, Linda (mom’s best friend), Duffield, VA; and several special nieces and nephews.

The family will honor her memory by gathering at Faye’s Duffield homeplace on Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 1:00-4:00p.m., to visit with friends who would like to stop by.

The family will receive friends from 12-1:00p.m., Monday, August 25, 2025, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 1:00p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. T.J. Hood and Rev. Robert Brown officiating. Roller’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church Singers will provide some of Faye’s favorite hymns.

Graveside service and burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park, Kingsport, TN. Kent Roller, Jr., Dustin Lucas, Ricky Smith, and Troy Smith will serve as pallbearers.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the many caregivers at NOVA Health Care and Hospice who provided “Fay-Fay” with such compassionate and dignified care. Your kindness and support brought comfort and peace to “Fay-Fay” and her family.
