Evelyn Francis (Stapleton) Lawson- Gate City, VA

Evelyn Francis (Stapleton) Lawson, 61, Gate City, VA, passed away, Friday, May 3, 2024, at her residence. 

Evelyn was born on July 15, 1962, in Kingsport, TN, to the late Edmond Scott Stapleton, and Ellen Francis (Thacker) Stapleton. 

In addition to her parents, preceding her in death are two grandchildren, Lucus and Lacie Lawson. 

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Sonya Lorene Marley, Staice Lynn Wagers (Otis, Jr.), and Edmond Paul Lawson; sisters, Lou Wolfe (Jan), and Julia Babb (Buddy); brothers, Ricky Stapleton (Mary), Scottie Stapleton (Jane), and C.W. Stapleton (Tammie); grandchildren, Whitney Amber Gragg (William Shone), Olivia Faith Anna Hawkins, expected grandson, Ed Lawson; expected great-grandchild, Oliver Wesley Gragg; special friend, Patsy Leonard; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. 

A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00p.m., Friday, May 10, 2024, at West End Baptist Cemetery, Gate City, VA, with Pastor Robert Seymore and Rev. Jerry Smith officiating. Buddy Babb will provide the music. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:15p.m., to go in procession to the graveside service. 

Edmond Paul Lawson, Charles Wesley Stapleton, Wesley Scott Stapleton, William Shone Gragg, Otis Wagers, Jr., and Caleb Kiegan Leopard will serve as pallbearers. Ricky Stapleton, and Matthew Mark Leonard will serve as honorary pallbearers.
