Emmit Ray Good

Emmit Ray Good, 88, passed away Sunday, October 19, 2025, at home attended by family.
He was born on July 16, 1937, in Scott County, VA, to the late James (Jim) Good and Esta Mae (Rhoton) Good. Also preceding him in death were his beloved wife, Dale Good; daughter, Donna Good; sister, Gladys Good, brother, Clyde Good, and a baby brother and sister.
Emmit was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving his country from 1955 to 1958. After service, he enjoyed traveling and ended up in Cleveland, TN, where he accepted a job in magazine sales. It was there that he met his wife, Dale, to begin a lifelong journey as husband and wife. He always said, “It was love at first sight.”
After many years of service, Emmit retired from Eastman Chemical Company, previously working several years at Holston Defense.
He will be terribly missed by every member of his loving family.
He is survived by son, Scott Good, and wife Debbie; son, Wayne Good, and wife Robin; daughter, Jami Ervin, and husband Mike; and “other son”, Hunter Edwards (grandson), and wife Kayla. He was blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchild Joshua Good, Jason Good, James Good, Victoria Good, Brandy Coffman, Brandon Good, Grayson Good, Taylor Evans, Jacob Jones, Tabbitha Bledsoe, and Kelli Wilkins; great grandchildren, Lexi Bowen, Eli Bledsoe, Baleigh Coffman, Brynlee Coffman, Hunter Edwards, and Skye Ervin, and his special little buddy great-great granddaughter Raelynn.
Emmit had several nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends.
Emmit will be remembered as a kind man, who was loved by everyone who knew him. He was an avid churchgoer and loved his church families at Rye Cove Community Church and Purchase Ridge Baptist Church. His favorite hobby was spending time in his woodworking shop.
Visitation will be held Tuesday and Wednesday evening from 6-8 at his granddaughter Tabbitha Bledsoe’s home (2225 Hall Street Kingsport, TN) and 2-4 p.m. at Rye Cove Community Church on Thursday, October 23, with the funeral service immediately following.
The burial will be held at Good Cemetery in Clinchport, VA with military rites conducted by members of the Virginia Army National Guard Honors Team.
