Edith (Burton) Darnell, 81, Gate City, VA, passed away, Sunday, November 2, 2025, at Ridgecrest Manor, Duffield, VA.

Edith was born in Scott County, VA, on April 16, 1944, to the late Clarence Thomas and Effie Dale (Mitchell) Burton.

In addition to her parents, her husband, David Allen Darnell preceded her in death.

Left to cherish her memory is her sister, Lou Finch (Ray) and brothers Fred Burton, Bobby Burton (Ann), Lee Burton, and John Burton; along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, November 5, 2025, in the Juanita S. Falin Chapel of the Gate City Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Grassy Creek Cemetery, Castlewood, VA, with Rev. Steve Collins officiating.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
