Doyle Everett Calton, Sr. – Gate City, VA

Doyle Everett Calton, Sr. 93, Gate City, VA received his angel wings and joined his Heavenly Father Monday, June 15, 2026.

Mr. Calton was born in Cliff Mountain, Scott County, VA on June 1, 1933, and was the son of the late Rufus and Emma Jane (Baker) Fields Calton.

In addition to his parents, his son, Doyle E. Calton, Jr, half-sister, Alberta Fagert, half-brother, William T. Fields, sisters, Margie Estel Calton, Selma Jean Dorton, Margaret Ann Calton, brothers, Corbin Calton, Norman Calton, nephew, Michael Brad Calton, and mother of his children, Minnie Frances Bowen Calton preceded him in death.

He is survived by his daughter, Frances Chapman, son, Ronald Calton, brother, Robert (Carolyn) Calton, grandson, Daniel Delp, granddaughters, Jordin Chapman, April (Shane) Begley, great grandson, Ian Delp, great granddaughters, Alexia (Tyler) Hughes, Lakin Calton, Ivy Willis, Ila Delp, great great granddaughter, Sierra Hughes, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Calton attended Pendletons Freewill Baptist Church. He was employed with VDOT for 30 years prior to his retirement.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00p.m., Saturday, June 20, 2026, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Kevin Sanders officiating.

Burial will follow at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Family and VDOT employees will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Pendletons Freewill Baptist Church, 7591 Rye Cove Memorial Road, Ft. Blackmore, VA 24250.
