Donald Ray Castle- Kingsport, TN

It is with great sadness in our hearts, but joy and comfort in our Faith that we announce the passing of Don, 78, on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at Holston Valley Medical Center. 

Don was born in Kingsport, TN, on December 12, 1945, to the late Earl Castle, and Jessee (Hood) Castle. 

Preceding him in death are his parents; sisters, Mary Rexrode, and Rubye Qualls; and brothers, Jay, and Cecil Castle. 

He is survived by his faithful and loving wife of 55 years, Darlene Castle; son, Shannon Castle; sister, Nell White; brother, James Castle (Debi); sister-in-law, Rebecca Jones; brother-in-law, Bruce Rhoton (Charlotte); and several nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends from 11-1:00p.m., Saturday, March 30, 2024, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 1:00p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Jackie Frazier officiating. The Hood Family will provide the music. 

Graveside services will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park, Kingsport, TN. Jason Castle, Eddie McClellan, Jeff Tankersley, Forrest Giles, Wendell Porter, and David Qualls will serve as pallbearers. Bruce Rhoton, Donnie Qualls, Danny Qualls, Sonny Brown, Joe Miller, and David Spears will serve as honorary pallbearers. 

Our most sincere appreciation goes to the doctors and nurses for their love and care shown to Don. 

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
