Ross Swanson Dockery, 76, entered into rest Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was born in Scott County, VA October 25, 1930 to the late Claude Dockery and Gertrude Fields Shelton.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ralph Dockery.
Mr. Dockery attended Pentecostal Powerhouse Church.
He is survived by his loving wife for 57 years, Ollie Quillen Dockery, Weber City, VA; step mother, Gertrude Dockery, Ft. Blackmore, VA; sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Joyce Dockery, Gate City, VA, Fred and Lois Dockery, Weber City, VA, Scottie and Laura Dockery, Dungannon, VA, Terry and Ruby Dockery, Dungannon, VA, Jeff and Kim Dockery, Gate City, VA; daughters and son-in-law, Charlotte Hall, Dungannon, VA, Rita Perry, Weber City, VA, Teresa and Lindsey Cress, Gate City, VA; 14 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild expecting in November; special great granddaughter, Katalin Perry; sister, Georgia Pierson, Kingsport, TN; brother, C.S. Dockery, Gate City, VA; half-sister, Mary Coffey, Kingsport, TN, Jane Chase, Johnson City, TN, Carol Brock, Kingsport, TN, Peggy Bush, Austin, TX; half brothers, Jack Dockery, Mack Dockery and Randy Dockery, all of Kingsport, TN and Gary Dockery, Ft. Blackmore, VA; special friend, Rex Watts, Gate City, VA.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 16, 2007 at Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. G.W. White and Rev. Ken Pierce officiating. Music will be provided by Living Waters Trio and Ken and Phyllis Pierce.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, August 17, 2007 at Holston View Cemetery. The family will meet at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Perry, Bryan Carter, Brad Dockery, Marvin Dockery, Anthony Dockery, Justin Dockery, Derek Cress and Brandon Summey.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Deskins, Ralph Carter, Bill Hilton, Rex Watts, Jarrod Dockery and David Dockery.
The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to the 3rd floor staff of Wilcox Hall.
