Walter Dean, 78, Nickelsville, VA passed away, Saturday, April 27, 2019 at his residence.
Walter was born in Scott County, VA on April 2, 1941. He was the son of the late James Albert and Addie Mae (Fields) Dean.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
In addition to his parents, his brothers, J.C., Emmitt, and Ervin Dean preceded him in death.
Walter is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Nyla (Weddle) Dean, Nickelsville, VA; son, Billy Wayne Dean and wife, Clara, Nickelsville, VA; grandson, Justin Wayne Dean and wife, Kala; granddaughters, Tiffany Sunshine Hall and husband, Justin Wayne and Makayla Storm Dean; great grandchildren, Leeland Dean, Mason Dean, Braden Dean, Emerie Hall, and an expectant great grandchild; brothers, Carlos Dean and wife Helen, Nickelsville, VA and Billy Joe Dean, Elwood, IN; sisters, Pearl Hamm, Baltimore, MD, Sarah Hernandez, CA, Myrtle Dean, Kingsport, TN, Brenda Newland, Kingsport, TN, and Elizabeth Dean, PA; along with several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Guy Elam and Rev. Kenneth Kiser officiating. David and Debbie Easterling will be providing the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Mickey Fields, Tim Fields, Dusty Osborne, Randy Osborne, Jared Taylor, Johnny Stallard, Jeff Weddle, and Junior Keith will serve as pallbearers. His buddies from the Forks of the Road Store will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m., Thursday to go in procession to the graveside.
