David Freddie Taylor – Johnson City, TN

David Freddie Taylor passed away peacefully on the evening of August 28, 2026 at Johnson City Medical Center after an extended illness. He has no doubt ascended to the celestial heavens above.

He was of Chrisitan faith. David had a larger-than-life personality and had never met a stranger. He had countless friends and an affinity for helping the elderly and anyone he considered an underdog. He himself was an underdog with a heart twice the size of his personality. David captivated those he loved with his charm, his wit, and his fearlessness. He loved fishing and he was a lifelong fan of the Miami Dolphins and the Atlanta Braves. David was a former member of the Virginia Army National Guard. He worked for AFG Glass, Greenland plant in Church Hill, for 24 years.

David was a loving brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His energy was infectious and left a lasting impact on anyone he encountered. David’s kindred spirit leaves a legacy of love, devotion, and rare authenticity.

David was preceded in death by his parents Frankie L Ball Taylor-Eads and Freddie R Taylor, grandparents Julia Lawson Taylor and Issac Taylor and Guy and Myrtle McConnell Ball, stepfather Bobby Eads, and three dear childhood friends Duke Lane, Tony Fink, and Howie Bradley.

David is survived by the love of his life and wife of 34 years, Mary Kiser Taylor, his daughter Chasity Taylor Graham and partner Robert ‘’Rob” Sizemore, his three grandchildren Audrianna “Sunny” Faith Graham, Sophia Elizabeth Graham, and Lakota David Graham, his sister Deborah “Deb” Taylor, his brother Gregory “Greg” Taylor and wife Jan, several nieces and nephews, and numerous close friends that loved him dearly.

The family will receive friends from 2-3p.m., September 5, 2026, at the Gate City, Funeral Home. David’s celebration of life will be conducted at 3:00p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel with David’s brother-in-law, Rev. Phillip Kiser officiating. His grandson, Lakota Graham will provide the music.

Following the service David will be laid to rest at Craft Cemetery in the Alley Valley Community in Gate City, VA. Andy Fink, Charles Ball, Jody McClellan, Tony McClellan, Austin Taylor, Eddie Kerns, and Steve Hall will serve as pallbearers.
