Gladys Tempie Darnell, 71, entered into rest Friday, November 30, 2007 at her residence.

She was born in Scott County, VA July 7, 1936 to the late Johnny and Margaret Baldwin Lane. Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Darnell; daughters, Deborah Faye and Sandra Kay Darnell; son, Jimmy Ray Darnell; sister, Berdie McCracken; one brother, George Lane.

Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Kathy Carter, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Sharron and Carl Wayne Harris, Ft. Blackmore, VA; son, Daniel Darnell, Ft. Blackmore, VA; grandchildren, Timothy Light, Anthony Light and Adam Carter; great grandchildren, Morgan Light and Ashley Brook Light; sisters and brothers-in-law, Faye and Charles "Buck" Darnell, Clara and Bayard McConnell, Millie Perry Lane, Annie and Kyle Gibson, all of Gate City, VA; brother, Emmitt Lane, Gate City, VA; very special friend, Cathy Akers, Clinchport, VA; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, December 3, 2007 at Gate City Funeral Home and other times at residence of her son. Services will be at 8 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Evangelist Kenneth Neeley and Rev. Denny Hass officiating. Music will be provided by Donna and Denny Hass.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at Hill Station Cemetery, Hill Station, VA. The family will meet at 10 a.m. at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.

Gate City Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
