Charles Edward “Buck” Darnell, 74, Ft. Blackmore, VA passed away, Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
Buck was born in Scott County, VA on July 18, 1945 and was the son of the late George Washington and Elsie Florence Darnell.
He was retired from the City of Kingsport with over 20 years of service.
He was also a lifelong farmer and a lover of livestock, was of the Jehovah Witness faith, and attended Kingdom Hall of Gate City, VA.
In addition to his parents, a sister and two brothers preceded him in death.
Surviving is his loving wife of 57 years, Faye Susie Darnell; children, Peggy Darnell, Randall Darnell and wife, Becky, Regina Estepp and husband, William, Sandra Edwards and husband, Gabriel, and Rose Darnell; grandchildren, Steve, Brittany, William, Jasmaine, Toby, Jeremiah, Aleshia, Hailey, and Tyler; great grandchildren; Layne and Callie; special family members, Danny Darnell, Mary Leonard, and Cody Wells; sister, Georgie Carter; brother, Jay Darnell; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the residence of his daughter, Peggy Darnell.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 27, 2020 at the Hill Station Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, VA with Brother Jake Pyle officiating.
Danny Darnell, Josh Dishner, Cody Wells, Jake Freeman, Gabriel Edwards, Jeremiah Gibson, and William Estepp will serve as pallbearers. Willliam Estepp, Jr. “Bud”, Toby Estepp “Darty”, Jasmaine Darnell “Pooch”, Aleshia Hillman “Longlegs”, Brittany Salling “Nitnu”, and Steve Darnell “Sonny Boy” will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at Gate City Funeral Home at 12:00 p.m., Monday to go in procession to the graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Gate City Funeral Home to help with the funeral expenses.
