Charles Ray Darnell Charles Ray Darnell ? 47 — Ft. Blackmore, VA entered into rest September 15, 2007 at Brian Center Nursing Home. He was born in Sullivan County, TN on May 21, 1960 to the late Morgan Darnell and Lula Dingus Darnell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Darnell (2006), two half-brothers, Jerry and Eugene Hunley and a aunt, Gracie Frazier. Charles was like a brother to us all. Sweet, caring, and helpful to everyone. Always there for those who need him. With a smile on his face and love in his heart. He will always be missed and forever loved. Surviving is his wife, Alice Darnell of the home; a son, Jimmy Ray Darnell, Kingsport, TN; brother, Lee Roy Darnell and wife Lisa, Gate City, VA; half-brother, Fred Darnell, Gate City, VA and a half-sister, Polly Tipton, North Carolina; one uncle, Willie Dingus, Gate City, VA; one aunt, Hazel Carter, Ft. Blackmore, VA. Along with several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Thursday, September 20, 2007 from 5-8 p.m. at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Ray Dockery and the Rev. Denny Hass officiating. Music will be provided by Rye Cove United Methodist Church Singers. Tony McDavid, Greg McDavid, Ricky Rhoton, Jr., Adam Carter, Jeffery Darnell and Jonathan Mullins will serve as pallbearers. Oakley McDavid and George McDavid will serve as honorary pallbearers. Burial will be in the Cox Cemetery, Mabe, VA. Friday, September 21, 2007 at 2 p.m. The family will be meeting at 1 p.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.
