Billy R. Counts, 77, Nickelsville, VA went to be with the Lord surrounded by his family, Friday, September 20, 2019 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Billy Was born in Scott County, VA on October 15, 1941 and was the son of the late Samuel Hershel Counts and Agnes Roberta (Kiser) Counts.
Surviving is his loving wife of 60 years, Lorene (Johnson) Counts, Nickelsville, VA; sons, Richard Counts and wife, Kim, Gate City, VA, Mark Counts and wife, Karianne, Nickelsville, VA, and Shannon Counts and wife, Robin, Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, Cory Counts and wife, Alyssa, Courtney and Patrick Quillen, Logan Counts and wife, Ashley, Tristan Counts, Callie Counts, Mason Counts, Addison Counts, and Aspen Counts; sisters, Betty Street and husband, Marvin, Jewel Ridge, VA and Joann Wampler, Nickelsville, VA; brothers, Harold Counts, Nickelsville, VA and Craig Counts, Gate City, VA; along with several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 23, 2019 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Minister Ron Adams and Minister Rick Willis officiating. Music will be provided by Alyssa Counts.
Burial will follow in the Addington Frame Cemetery, Nickelsville, VA. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. His church family will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Billy’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
