Cecil Wayne Lane – Kingsport, TN

Cecil Wayne “Jay Bird” Lane, 71, Kingsport, TN passed away, Monday, May 12, 2025, at Bristol Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Kingsport, TN on October 16, 1953, and was the son of the late Clarence Commie Lane and Geneva Neil (Gillenwater) Cousins.

In addition to his parents, his sister, Judy Ramey and niece, Anna Ramey preceded him in death.

Cecil was given the name “Jay Bird” by his father at birth and was lovingly known as “Jay Bird” throughout his life. He was known as a very sweet and gentle man by all who knew him. He will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his sisters, Peggy (Lane) Ramey and Mike Compton, and Martha Engle, and brothers, Clarence Lane, Jr. (JoAnn) and Jeff Lane, nephews, Jeff and Corey Lane, and Rick and Bub Ramey, a special friend Jason Edwards, and his fur baby and companion, Jackery.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Friday, May 16, 2025, in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the Gate City Funeral Home with a short service following.

Burial will be a Strong Cemetery in the Alley Valley community of Scott County, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
