David Leon Castle

December 25, 1972 — December 26, 2018

David Leon Castle, 46, of Dungannon, VA passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital.
David was born in Sullivan County, TN on December 25, 1972 to Roy Lee and the late Carolyn (Gillenwater) Castle.
He is also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents; Eligah and Florence Castle, and his maternal grandparents, Lloyd “Blondie” and Susie Kathleen Gillenwater.
David loved to take his children fishing (his most favorite thing to do). He enjoyed teaching them how to catch nightcrawlers and crawdads. He loved being outdoors doing whatever he could. He taught his children everything about animals, plants, hunting and fishing. He also loved going for walks with his wife and children.
David was a strong, kind, loving man who battled Fibrosarcoma, cancer of the kidney, and lung cancer for almost 6 years. He never let the cancer get him down. He went through so much pain and agony but never complained, he was too worried about everyone else! He was the definition of a strong man.
He was the best husband and daddy we could have asked for! He meant so much to his family, that his memory will forever be carried in our hearts!
Those left behind to cherish his memory are; his loving wife, Veronica Dockery Castle, of the home; daughter, Bethany Castle, Coeburn, VA; sons, Alijah and Bravin Castle of the home, Conner Castle, Castlewood, VA, and Aaron and wife Lauren Castle, Kingsport, TN; father; Roy Lee Castle, Dungannon, VA; sister, Martha Hall, Ft. Blackmore, VA; brother, Stacy and wife Heather Castle, Nickelsville, VA; nieces and nephews, Destiny Hall, Zackery Hall, Blake Hall, Elizabeth Hall, Devon Castle, Lakin Castle, and Kaitlin Castle; great-nephew Keegan Castle.
A celebration of life will be held for David on Saturday, January 5, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Dungannon from 5:00-7:00 p.m. The service will follow with the Rev. Larry Beavers officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Gate City Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
