Mae Freeman Carter, 94, Rt.1, Fort Blackmore, VA entered into rest, Saturday, January 26, 2008 at Heritage Hall in Big Stone Gap, VA.

Mrs. Carter was born in Scott County, VA on April 22, 1913, a daughter of the late A.J. and Hattie Johnson Freeman. She was a member of the Rivermont Baptist Church of the Hill Station Community of Scott County, VA.


In addition to her parents, her husband, Garnett H. Carter, two sisters, Sally Carter and Lovely Carter and three brothers, Jack, Joe and Charles Freeman preceded her in death.

She is survived by her brother, Carroll Freeman and wife, Phyllis, Kingsport, TN along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Monday, January 28, 2008 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Jim Price officiating. The Lee Smith Singers will provide music.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at the Morrison Cemetery in the Rye Cove Community of Scott County, VA. Friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family will be meeting at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. to go in procession to the graveside service.
