Carolyn Ann Snavely – Fort Balckmore, VA

Carolyn Ann (Edwards) Snavely, 77, Fort Blackmore, VA passed away Thursday, June 18, 2026, at her residence from declining health.

Carolyn was born in Sullivan County, TN on September 13, 1948, and was the daughter of the late James (Jim) and Kathleen (Tipton) Edwards.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Rev. James Worley Snavely, daughter, Lisa Ann Snavely, son, Jimmy Snavely, sisters, Lisa Minton, brothers, Larry James Edwards and wife, Eva and Doyle Harvey Edwards, special cousin whom she loved as a sister, Kathy Hensley; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m.in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Brother Robbie Dockery, Brother Garnie Snavely, and Rev. Rex McMurray officiating. Marvin and Susie Leonard will provide the music.

Burial will follow at the Snavely Cemetery, in the Rye Cove community of Scott County, VA.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Special thanks to her doctor Leslie McNew-Hall at Mountain Region Family Medicine. Her kidney doctor, Dr. Duc Vu, Earlene, Brie, and Kiera, with Mountain Region Home Health. Monica and Lori with Ballad Health Hospice. The doctors and nurses at Norton Community Hospital for such good care and kindness to Carolyn.

Her family is at peace knowing she is at rest now and free from pain.
