Carlton Stamper – Gate City, VA
With profound sadness we announce the passing of Carlton Conrad Stamper, Sr. and his son, Carlton Conrad Stamper, Jr. who left us Tuesday, August 5, 2025.
Carlton, Sr. was born October 25, 1941, in Tazewell County, VA.
He was a lifelong Veteran of the United States Air Force, where he retired as a Master Sargent with numerous awards throughout his career. He held a master’s degree in psychology and later worked as Counselor for the James H. Quillen V.A. Medical Center.
Carlton is survived by his children, Jeffery H. Stamper and Ricky (Pam) Stamper, Connie (Patrick) McIntosh, Faith Gibson (Rick Boggs), Ronald Benjamin Irwin, grandchildren, Tyler Young, Justin Young, Cole Young, Chelsea Grace, Matthew Boggs, Jeffery Stamper, Justin Stamper, and Sarah Stamper, great grandchildren, Avery, Andrew, Wells, Caiden, Cael, Logan, Brandon, Sammy, Gavin, Aryea, and Murphy. Special nephew, Nathan Penley.
Military Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 22, 2025, at the V.A. Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, TN by the American Legion Hammond Post #3, Kingsport, TN and Post #265, Gate City, VA.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:45 p.m., Friday for the service, or meet at 12:30 p.m. at the Apostolic Revival Center, 2132 Nickelsville Highway, Gate City, VA 24251 to follow the family to the cemetery.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the Apostolic Revival Center in memory of Carlton with Rev. Leonard Dixon officiating.
