Mary Ellen Burke, 79, Gate City, VA passed away, Monday, July 31, 2018 at the residence of her daughter in Jonesborough, TN.
Mary was born in Scott County, VA on April 12, 1939 to the late Phillip and Elizabeth (Harris) Lee.
In addition to her parents, her husband, David Glen “Bus” Burke preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughters, Terry Wheelock and husband, Kenny, Kingsport, TN, Tammy Simmons and husband, Thomas, Jonesborough, TN, and Tracy Taylor and finance, Daryl Johnson, Surgoinsville, TN; sons, Billy Burke and wife, Sherrie, Gate City, VA, Del Burke and wife, Tessie, Nashville, TN, And Michael Burke and Jessica Sue, Gate City, VA; 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews and a lot of very special friends.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m., Friday, August 3, 2018 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Ray Dockery officiating.
Burial will follow the services at the Walnut Chapel Church Cemetery, East Carter’s Valley community of Gate City, VA.
Kenny Wheelock, Daryl Johnson, Adam Fields, Skyler Fields, James Fleenor, and Dave Renfro will serve as pallbearers. Thomas Simmons will serve as honorary pallbearer.
