Mr. John H. Burke, 74, Gate City, VA, passed away, Saturday, September 6, 2008 in Palos Heights, IL.
Mr. Burke was born in Scott County, VA on July 4, 1934, the son of the late Paul Burke and Annie Kay Lane.
His wife, Kum Za "Susie" Burke, preceded him in death in addition to his parents.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He is survived by his son, John Burke, Jr., and wife, Vicky, Darien, IL, grandchildren, Lauren Burke and Josh Burke, both of Darien, IL along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Friday, September 12, 2008 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Pastor Johnny Duncan officiating. The Speers Ferry Singers will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 13, 2008 at the Powers Cemetery in the Robinette Valley community of Scott County, VA.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends will be meeting at the cemetery for the graveside service.
