Michael Shane Burd – Gate City, VA
Michael Shane Burd, 46, Gate City, VA (and formerly of Phillipsburg, New Jersey) unexpectedly passed away, Thursday, May 31, 2018 at his residence.
Michael Shane Burd was born on April 12, 1972 in Easton, PA to Lewis Elmer Burd and Dorothy Ann (Edwards) Morton.
Mike had a deep-rooted passion for the New York Giants. He loved everything about his football team and would cheer them on every Sunday during the season. Mike also loved animals; especially the many he shared with his beloved wife, Sheryl. He loved to spend time with his amazing wife and family. Mike was a kind- hearted and giving person, and he would always go the extra mile to help people in need. He was a big teddy bear and it showed through his thoughtfulness and love for everyone and everything around him. He will be greatly missed and remembered for his infectious smile, laughter, and big heart.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his beautiful and loving wife, Sheryl Wheeler Burd; two step-children, Johnathan and Kelsey Wheeler; his father, Lewis’s companion, Lois Rogers; his sister, Annamarie Poole and her companion, Mike Vaughn; identical twin brother, Lewis Burd and wife, Pam; nephews, Mike Burd and his wife, Miracle and Dillion Poole; niece, Mandy Burd; niece, Jonae Poole and fiance, Travis Presley; nieces, Halie, Hannah, and Holly Burd; and his great niece, Heavenly Burd.
Mike was preceded in death by his step-father, Jeffery Morton and nephew, Evan Burd.
A private memorial service will be announced later.
