Fred Allen Brooks – Kingsport, TN

Fred Allen Brooks, 77, Kingsport, TN, passed away Friday, June 7, 2019 at his residence.

Fred was born in Dickenson County, VA on June 23, 1941 to the late Henry and Myrtle Ovella Minnick Brooks.

In addition to his parents; his wife Betty L. Peters Brooks; sisters, Marie Smith and Hazel Dixon; brothers, Jerry Elmer Brooks, Grady Brooks, Eugene Brooks, L.C. Brooks, Kenneth Brooks, Estal Brooks, Ted Brooks and Roger Brooks preceded him in death.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa and Gary Bortz, Kingsport, TN, Michelle and Shannon Jones, Kingsport, TN; sons and daughter-in-law; Ricky and Susan Brooks, Kingsport, Tn. Jeff Brooks and Sherry, Kingsport, TN; sisters, Kathleen Adkins, Gaynell Ison, Barbara Ashworth; brother, Richard Brooks; grandchildren, Brittany Brooks, Caitlyn Jones Trivette, Donovan Jones, Micaela Jones, Julian Gullotta, Nikolaus Gullotta, Corey Brooks and Carrie Brooks, Brandi Bortz; great-grandchildren, Paisleigh, Derek, Charlie, Athea and Dahlia; special friends, Susan Williams and Laurin Bishop; along with several nieces and nephews.

The Family will receive friends from 5-7pm. Thursday, June 13, 2019 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00pm. in the Gene Falin Chapel of the Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Fleming officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 am. Friday, June 14, 2019 at the Lawson Confederate Memorial Cemetery in Scott County, VA. Gerald Brooks, Gary Brooks, John Payne, Jeffrey J. Peters, Glenn Bortz and Antonio Martinez will serve as pallbearers. James Robert Jones, Jr. and Robert “Bob” Bortz will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The Family will be meeting at the funeral home at 10:00 am, Friday, June 14, 2019 to go in procession to the Cemetery.
