Bethel (Arrington) Brock, 75, Gate City, VA passed away, Friday, April 5, 2019 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Bethel was born in Scott County, VA on September 10, 1943, and was the daughter of Clyde and Mary Belle (Elliott) Salling.
In addition to her parents, the father of her children, Cecil Arrington; her husband, Hubert Keith Brock; son, Randy Arrington; sisters, Betty Bledsoe, Blanche Wolfe, Beverly Barnette, and Barbara Summey preceded her in death.
Bethel was a Christian and loved her Lord. She was called “Mom” and “Mamaw Bethel” by many. Her home was open to all as she showed the love of Jesus to those who entered. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna (Tony) Williams, Gate City, VA; sons, Billy Wayne Arrington, Kingsport, TN, Gerald Arrington, Gate City, VA, and Shannon Arrington, Kingsport, TN; sisters, Bobbie Cruby, Ft. Blackmore, VA. Berniece (Howard) Arrington, Gate City, VA, Brenda Mann, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Carol Hill, Ft. Blackmore, Beatrice (Kenneth) Lane, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Special Sister, Ruth Hensley, Mt. Carmel, TN, the children’s’ second Mom, Lois Arrington, Kingsport, TN; brothers, Bill (Bonnie) Salling, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Buford (Brenda) Salling, Ft. Blackmore, VA; grandchildren, Natisha (Jeremy) Griffis, Sheena (Brad) Davenport, Cydnie (Brandon) Stapleton, Roan Arrington; great-grandchildren, Abbie Griffis, Jade Williams, Georgia Griffis, Britt Davenport, Brynley Stapleton, Cooper Stapleton; several special nieces and nephews, along with too many special friends to name.
A Celebration of Life for friends and family will be held from 1-3 p.m., Sunday, April 7, 2019 at The Emporium, 146 Broad Street, Kingsport, TN and other times at the residence of any of her children.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m., Monday, April 8, 2019 at Gravely Baptist Church, Lynn Garden. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., in the Sanctuary of the church with Pastor David Salley and Evangelist Tyler McMullins officiating. Billy Wayne Arrington will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at the Grizzle-Salling Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, VA. Mickey Summey, Brad Davenport, Brandon Stapleton, Jeremy Griffis, Eric Stallard, Randy Hill, and Scotty Hill will serve as pallbearers. Nate Williams, Martin Lane, Eddie Rhoton, and Brent Montgomery will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday to go in procession to the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to The Lamplight Theatre for a memorial.
