Billie Jean Brickey Flanary – Gate City, VA
Billie Jean Brickey Flanary, 76, born November 10, 1948, of Gate City, VA went to be with her heavenly father, forever home on August 2, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her late husband Jimmy Lee Flanary, her parents, Ruth Lee and Rhea Eugene Brickey also a sister Betty Marie Johnson.
She was a former member of the Scott County Life-Saving Crew. She was a licensed ham operator and retired from McDonald’s in Lynn Garden after 40 Years. She was a member of Gateway Baptist Church for over 40 years.
She is survived by her son Jeffery Dale Flanary and wife, Susan, a daughter, Kristi Jeter and husband Chris; grandchildren who she adored, Matthew Flanary and Amanda, Andrew Jeter and Zachary Jeter; sisters, Ina Rhea Miller and Johnny, Robin Crowe and Robbie; nephews, John Miller, Mickey Miller and Christie, Daniel Osborne and Rachel; niece Rachel Osborne and Thomas; great nieces, Sydney Lunsford and Trevor, Madison Osborne and a great nephew, Brady Miller; her aunt Ann Cumbo of Lewistown, Ohio.
The family will receive friends from 11-1p.m., Tuesday, August 5, 2025, in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Marvin Egan officiating.
Burial will follow at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. John Miller, Mickey Miller, Chris Jeter, Matthew Flanary, Daniel Osborne and Dylan Smith will serve as pallbearers. Robert Hickam will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to your favorite charity.
A special thank you to Heritage Hall nursing home in Big Stone gap, VA for the wonderful care they gave and to Jeannie McNew, her caregiver, for a year before she went into the nursing home.
Billie Jean will be remembered for her sweet spirit and her strong faith and her deep love for her family. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished
