James Berry, Duffield, VA, entered into his eternal joy on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Ridgecrest Manor, Duffield, VA.
He was born in Scott County, VA on July 23, 1927 to the late O. E and Maggie (Barnette) Berry.
His wife, Billie Sue Berry; grandson, Brandon Berry; two great grandsons; Joshua Berry and Justin Berry; three sisters, Bessie Robinette, Rosalee Bledsoe, and Jean Bledsoe preceded him in death.
Survivors are his daughter, Rhonda Bryant and husband, Tommy, Church Hill, TN; sons, Dale Berry and wife, Charlotte, Duffield, VA, Robert Gale Berry and wife, Brenda, Yuma, VA, and James W. “Bo” Berry and wife, Tammy, Duffield, VA; sisters, Vivian Justice, Church Hill, TN, Mabel Thurman, Kingsport, TN, and Faye Barker, Kingsport, TN; brother O. E. Berry, Jr., Duffield, VA; 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews along with a host of friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., at Gate City Funeral Home, on Sunday February 24, 2019 and at the homes of any of the children. Funeral Services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Evangelist Kenneth Neeley officiating. Music will be provided by Kaylor’s Chapel Quartet.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 25, 2019 at the Berry Cemetery on Big Ridge in Duffield, VA. Grandsons and great grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are his Caregivers at Ridgecrest Nursing Home, Judy, and Peggy.
Family and friends are asked to meet at Gate City Funeral Home at 12:00 p.m. to go in procession to the graveside service.
