Ava Lawson – Gate City, VA

Ava Juanita Lawson, 74, Gate City, VA passed away, Friday, May 23, 2025, at NOVA Health and Rehab.

Ava was born in Scott County, VA on February 15, 1951, and was the daughter of the late Andy Horton and Ival Louise (Culbertson) Lawson.

In addition to her parents, her sisters, Patsy Kay Lawson Chandler and Helen Louise Lawson, brothers, Jimmie Earl, Luther Paul, and Johnny Everson Lawson, and a step granddaughter, Melissa Frazier preceded her in death.

Ava is survived by her daughter, Kristie (Dennis) Frazier, granddaughter, Madelyn Ava Frazier, step granddaughter, Ashley Frazier, step great grandson, Bradley Amyx, sisters, Cathy Lawson (James) Chandler, and Betty Lawson (Henry) Smith, and her estranged brother, Andy (Ida) Lawson, along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Family and friends are asked to meet at Gate City Funeral Home at 1:15 p.m., Wednesday to go in procession to the graveside service.
