Georgia Jones Austin, 90, entered into rest Sunday, March 23, 2008 at the Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation, Weber City, VA.
She was born in Scott County, VA July 23, 1917. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Jones and Nan Quillen Jones; her husband, Elmer Lee Austin; half sister, Dorothy Quillen and half brothers, Fred Quillen and J.L. Quillen.
Survivors include her daughter, Polly Hammond, Clinchport, VA; sons and daughters-in-law, Cecil and Ruth Austin, Gate City, VA, Bobby and Patsy Austin, Duffield, VA, Vextal Austin, Gate City, VA; half sisters, Margaret Hunley and Ruth France, both of Gate City, VA; grandchildren and spouses, Jeff and Donna Austin, Tim and Tammy Darnell, Greg and Revonda Austin, Jamie and Crystal Austin, Jackie and Sally Austin, Billy Austin, Travis and Diane Austin, Ron and Susan Austin, Eddie Hammond and Sherry Carter, Phyllis and Sam Williams, Richard and Penny Hammond, Teresa and Larry France; great grandchildren, Chris Austin, Brianna Austin, Justin Austin, Olivia Austin, Shawna Austin, Mark Dingus, Brian Dingus, Dominic Austin, Isaiah Austin, Kendra Hammond, Channing Austin, Christine Cleek and Summer Cleek; step granddaughters, Jennifer Rogers, Patricia Dean and husband, Joe Dean.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Kevin Sanders and Rev. Gary Hunley officiating. Music will be provided by the Mabe Quartet and Otis Lawson.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at Austin Family Cemetery, Gate City, VA. The family will meet at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren
The family wishes to convey their special thanks to the staff of the Brian Center for their loving care of Ms. Austin.
