Gency Faye (Hall) Akers, 77, of Gate City, Virginia passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at her residence.
Faye was born in Scott County, VA on April 2, 1942, and was the daughter of the late Bob and Cordia (Bishop) Dingus.
In her life, she was a Teacher’s Assistant, with the Scott County School System, and read many books to the children at Ft. Blackmore Elementary School, and later was a homemaker.
She never met a stranger.
In addition to her parents, her first husband, Roy Hall; sisters, Helen Lawson and Mary Carter; brothers, John, Troy, Emitt, Roy and Charlie Dingus preceded her in death.
Faye is survived by her husband, James Akers, Gate City, VA; sons, Harold Hall and wife, Catherine, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Roger Hall and wife, Amanda, St. Paul, VA, and Johnny Hall and wife, Shirley, Ft. Blackmore, VA; step daughters, Patricia Morelock and husband, Allen, Kingsport, TN, Patsy Rhoton and husband, Ricky, Weber City, VA, Tammy Perry and husband, Charles and Dana Frazier and husband, Roger, all of Ft. Blackmore, VA; step son, Ricky Akers, Gate City, VA; grandchildren, Paige, Jeremy, Justice, Adriane, Austin, Allex, Bianna, Dylan, Alexis, Brandon, and Matthew; great grandchildren, Maci, Mason, Hayden, Colin, Skylyn, Emma, and Bentley; sisters, Kate Chase, Kingsport, TN, Bobbie Jo Sanders and husband, Russell and Nellie Watson, all of Ft. Blackmore, VA, and Sue Puckett and husband, Junior, Kingsport, TN; brothers, Jim Dingus and wife, Peggy, Ft. Blackmore, VA and William Dingus and wife, Kathy; along with several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Friday, January 31, 2020 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Mike Gilliam and Rev. Kevin Sanders officiating. Jeff Watson and Ronnie Tipton and Nancy Peters will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 1, 2020 at the Dingus Cemetery in the Rye Cove community of Scott County, VA.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m., Saturday to go in procession to the graveside service.
