Ernest Adams, 77, Duffield, VA passed away, Thursday, October 23, 2008 at the Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN.
Born in Scott County, VA on September 12, 1931, he was a son of the late Patton and Anzie Adams. Ernest was a very lovable man who never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed on the mountain.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Agness Fields, Stella Hite, Rachel Lawson, Bertie Mallory, Betty Hall, and Alice McClain; brothers, Monroe Adams, Gains Adams, Rosely Adams, and Floyd Adams and a nephew, Guy "Yogi" Adams.
He is survived by his two sisters and one brother, who are the last survivors of fourteen children, Opal May Adams, Hawkins Co., TN, Beatrice Bradley, Knoxville, TN and Elmer Adams, Duffield, VA along with several very special nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m., Sunday, October 26, 2008 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the Gate City Funeral Home with Evangelist Kenneth Neeley and the Rev. William Bowen officiating. The Tipton Family Singers will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at the Bowen Cemetery, Cliff Mountain Way Road, Duffield, VA on Monday, October 27, 2008 at 12 Noon.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Memorial contributions may be made to Gate City Funeral Home in the name of Ernest Adams.
