Mr. Banner Gibson, 75, Gate City, VA., passed away Sunday, April 1, 2012 at his home.
Mr. Gibson was born in Scott County, VA. on February 14, 1937 to the late Dorothy and Haden Walter Gibson. He was of the Baptist faith and was a born again Christian. Banner was an avid Gardner and outdoorsman.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Gibson is preceded in death by his brother Danny Gibson and granddaughter Tiffany Beth Gibson.
He is survived by his fiance', Joyce Hartman of Gate City, VA., ex-wife and mother to his children; Gladine Gibson of Gate City, VA., daughter; Annette Dingus and husband Billy of Gate City, VA., sons; Jimmy Dwayne Gibson and wife Lisa of Alley Valley Community, VA., and Jeff Gibson and wife Jeani of Yuma, VA., sisters; Louise Gibson of Kingsport, TN., Ollie Darnell and husband Teddy of Hiltons, VA., Judy Gillenwater and husband Carol of Gate City, VA., and Phyllis Gibson of Kingsport, TN., brothers; Carlos Gibson and wife Phyllis of Weber City, VA., and George Gibson and wife Debbie of Kingsport, TN., grandchildren; Robert and Christopher Qualls, Sara, Brandy, Brandon, Jessie, Emily and Melissa Gibson, and Melinda Carter, great-grandchildren Noah Hammonds, Landon, Scotty, Mason and Madison Carter, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at the Gate City Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Buford Blankenbeckler and Rev. Johnny Gibson officiating. Music will be provided by Lee Smith Singers and George Lane.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the Gibson Family Cemetery in Snow Flake Community, VA. Jeff Gibson, Billy Dingus, Christopher Qualls, Jimmy Carter and William Carter will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the Gibson family requests donations be made to Gate City Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses for Banner Gibson.

Daddy, we love you and miss you, you are in our hearts and our thoughts, We would give anything to see you one more time you are our angle , we miss you more and more everyday. Dad I love you and miss you and i can't belive you are gone , But I no that you are at peace and with the Lord and your family, But until we meet again we will have an empty space missing. My Mother and I are so sorry that Banner has passed away.He was a friend of ours.Keep in mind that he is in a far better place now,where he will never again have to suffer in any fashion,and will never again have to endure any pain.When I close my eyes,I see him standing at the right hand of GOD!!!He's O.K. now.When I close my eyes again,I see him smiling!!!Rock on,Banner,rock on!!!!!
