Ethel Pauline Gillenwater, 70, Gate City, VA passed away, Monday, December 26, 2011 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Ms. Gillenwater was born in Scott County, VA on July 28, 1941 to the late Corbett and Maxie Viola Gillenwater.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Roy Dallas Gillenwater.
Surviving is her son, Tommy Gillenwater, Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Brandy Annett Gillenwater and Jon Parker, both of Louisville, KY; twin sister, Kathleen Darnell, Hiltons, VA and sister, Alice Mae Greene, Kingsport, TN; brothers, Lester Gillenwater, Kingsport, TN, B.C. Gillenwater, Gray, TN, and Corbett Gillenwater, Kingsport, TN; and a special niece, Marie Dean, Cedar Bluff, VA, several other nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 29, 2011 at the Gate City Funeral Home. The family will go in procession at 11:00 a.m. to the cemetery.
Burial will follow at the Gillenwater Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, VA with the Rev. Johnny Gibson officiating. Nephews and friends will serve as pallbearers.

My heart goes out to you Tommy on this very difficult day. It is never easy to lose a mother but know that she is just around you, she is your newly earned Guardian Angel looking down on you from the heavens. My sincerest condolences and prayers will be with you and your family. Hang in there.

I was privileged to have worked with Pauline when she worked at Scott County Telephone. I thought the world of her, and am honored to have known her.
