Stephanie Kay Hammonds – Gate City, VA

Stephanie Kay Hammonds, 47, Gate City, VA passed away, Friday, March 5, 2010 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer.
Stephanie was born in Sullivan County, TN on January 31, 1963, the daughter of the late Joe Taylor and Sue Ella McClain. She was employed as a cashier with Presley's Market.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Scott Hammonds, Gate City, VA, sons, Hunter and Zachary Hammonds, both of Gate City, VA, her sister, Patricia Taylor, Hiltons, VA; mother-in-law, Jearldine Hammonds, Gate City, VA; sister-in-law, Debbie Dockery, Rye Cove, VA, along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m., Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Nottingham United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Bill Porter officiating. Music will be provided by The Todd Sisters.
Graveside services will be conducted Monday, March 8, 2010 at the Gardner Cemetery, Hiltons, VA at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the church at 10:15 a.m., to go in procession to the graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the family.

Stephanie's cousin, Tammy, was my best childhood friend. I have such good memories of playing with Stephanie on Papaw McClain's farm. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I stopped in at Presley's Mkt. on various occasions and would talk with Stephanie. She seemed like a very sweet person. I know the family will miss her greatly. We wish you the deepest sympathy in this time of your loss. May God comfort your hearts.
