Billy Ray Lane

Gate City, VA | April 15, 2009

Billy Ray Lane, 58, entered into rest April 15, 2009 at Indian Path Medical Center.

He was born in Scott County, VA to the late Charles Howard Lane and Laura Ellen Frazier Lane. Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Orvie Lane Kilgore; brothers, Ernie Lane, J.D. Lane, Gary Wayne Lane and Danny Joe Lane.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Lane, Gate City, VA; two daughters, Jody Ellen Lane and Tony Gibson, Hiltons, VA and Connie Graham, Kingsport, TN; one son, William Jason Lane and wife, Alisha Dawn Lane, Nickelsville, VA; grandchildren, Zachary Glen Lane, Cody Aaron Lane, Natalie Faith Lane, Austin Lee-Ray Lane, Kattie Michele Lane, Timothy Issac Gibson, Brandon Graham and Sean Graham; four sisters, Geraldine Folden and husband, Ernest, Kingsport, TN, Loreen Folden and husband, Ivan, Fall Branch, TN, Linda Kay Folden and husband, Wayne, Gate City, VA, and Helen Lyons, Nickelsville, VA; three brothers, Glen Lane and wife, Linda, Caldwell, ID, Charles Howard "Junior" Lane and wife, Anita, Lebanon, IN, Mike Lane, Gate City, VA; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2009 at Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of his sister, Geraldine Folden. Services will be at 8 p.m. in Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Larry Browder officiating. Music will be provided by the McMurray Brothers.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009 at Frazier and Ashworth Family Cemetery, Sloantown Community of Scott County.

The family will meet at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Lucas, Scott Folden, Jeff Lucas, Tony Gibson, Timmy Estep and Lynn Estep.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ernest Folden, Banner Estep, Carol Gillenwater, Ivan Folden and Wayne Folden.

Gate City Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Lane Family.

To Billy's wife ,sisters, Gerdine,Kay, Loraine, Helen, Mike, Glen, Junior, Billy Rays son & Daughtors, I wasn't around Billy Ray a lot but have always had much love for aqll of Uncle Howards kids, I am so sorry, as usual this time of the year i am under the weather with my Allergies acting up big time so may God richly bless each one of you all to the loss of a fine brother, father , & husband, Love you all Billy David Lane Ist cousin

Brenda, I am so sorry to hear about your husband. I know you are heart broken. My deepest symphony. If you need me you know where I am. MY FATHER IN LAW WAS THE BEST MAN I HAVE EVER KNOWN AND I WILL MISS HIM TREMENDOUSLY. HE WAS THERE HOLDING MY HAND WHEN I WAS SICK AND I WILL REGRET EBERY DAY THAT I WAS NOT THERE HOLDING HIS. BILL WAS THE TYPE OF MAN IF HE TOLD U SOMETHING YOU COULD BANK ON IT HE WAS A VERY SPECIAL MAN LIKE THE DAD I NEVER HAD AND I WILL ALWAYS LOVE HIM PLEASE CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR HIS FAMILY AND I WOULD LIKE TO THANK EVERYONE FOR WHAT THEY HAVE DONE FOR US
